Rome was not built in a day. The greatest masterpieces are built slowly, brick by brick. Like every project in our lives. To achieve this, we need a plan:
- A business plan to launch a new business;
– A nutritional plan to help us be healthy or to achieve a specific goal such as weight loss;
– A plan for building our new house;
– A training plan to improve our physical condition, etc..
People of the gym I attend were surprised that I have in my possession a workout plan after all these years. But, as I often tell them: “I know where I’m going to make sure I achieve my fitness goals. “
You see, people who do not keep training logs tend to wonder what to do during their workout at the gym. They are often caught off guard when the time comes to choose the exercises, determine the number of sets and repetitions to do during their training current or future. You see them walking from one exercise to another without really knowing exactly what they want to do or worse: they literally copy the program from someone else without knowing if the program suits them.
After that, they find that nothing works as they wish. Comments such as: “All this is just a waste of time. I have not reached my goals. I am discouraged. Why bother?” will start being said. At the next possible occasion, they will stop practicing, or they will rectify this but this time with the tools necessary to succeed.
So you need to equip yourself to help you experience success on a weekly basis. Over time, the logbook will provide valuable information. If you do not see the expected results based on your goals, then you can refer to the log and discover why. Similarly, if you see good results, you can continue to perform the workouts that are effective.
At the risk of repeating myself: the training log is a must in any good workout. This allows us to keep a log of exercises and weight lifted. This applies also to know how we feel during a workout. I’m tired or in shape? Have I eaten enough during my day or the day before? Is my training time is too long? etc..
The training diary is not only a way to track your progress but also a source of inspiration and motivation that will help guide your efforts. The wise person will consider his last performance before setting new goals.
You may consider the same process, as regards the nutrition plan. I found that people who make nutritional changes, while making a log for this, progress more quickly. You might answer me: “It’s too long to do all this, keep a diary even on what I eat. “It is true that at first it may seem complicated but more you progress, the less you’ll need the logbook. The reason is simple: you will be used to make the right choices for your health.
