MCT oil from Garden of Life
Whether you are a ketogenic diet adept or not, Garden of Life MCT oil is a source of energy that is quickly gaining popularity. Learn more about this fuel for the body and brain.
What are MCTs?
Medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) are fatty acids with 6 to 12 carbons atoms: caproic acid (C6), caprylic acid (C8), capric acid (C10) and lauric acid (C12)1. MCTs are known to be less caloric and burned faster by the body than long chain fatty acids, which are immediately stored after being absorbed. Since our regular diet is composed mostly of long-chain fatty acids rather than MCT, having them as a supplement is recommended2.
Garden of Life’s MCT oil is a high-quality vegetable oil extracted from 100% sustainably grown organic coconuts, is non-hydrogenated and free of palm oil or other filling oils. Whether incorporated into coffee, yogurt or salad dressings, it is a fast-acting source of energy for the body and the brain.
In this sense, MCT oil is particularly recommended for athletes (since it has a high energy density), for ketogenic diet followers (because it increases the rate of ketone bodies (lipids converted into organic compounds) in the blood)1 and for people wishing to improve their cognitive health (since it nourishes the brain cells)
